All Star Cheerleader-Review

Monday, October 12th, 2009

All Star Cheerleader is a game that allows players to participate in the competitive sport of Cheer, with the traditional cheerleading, dancing, gymnastics and teamwork. Players can also create their own avatar. Players can also learn cheer and dance moves. Players compete against individual team members and compete against other squads. The main goal of the player of this game is to become the captain of his or her squad and eventually lead the squad to win all of the competitions in the single player campaign. High-energy gameplay includes squad competitions and one-on-one cheer-offs, where players will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to perform dozens of real-world cheer and dance moves. All Star Cheer Squad also incorporates use of the Wii Balance Board to get the player’s entire body involved in the game and add to the ultimate cheerleading experience. The graphic are sufficient although they could certainly do with a bit of polish while the animations are of a pretty high standard considering the game makes use of motion captured cheerleader routines

When the game begins, the player will start off by designing and naming player’s lead character. The player can pick from male and female options, and a variety of face types, eye shapes, clothing designs, hairstyles, and at for the females different make-up kits. From there you can name your character.

As far as presentation goes, All Star Cheer Squad could have used a bit more polish. The character designs have a realistic feel to them, but they also look pretty simple, with not much texture work involved, and the stages that you compete in are just as bland as the models, with some really flat colors.

Overall, All-Star Cheerleader is a fun game for younger girls and their friends and will keep them busy over the festive period.
